Father of the Pride

Fun facts: The darker a male lion's mane is, the more sexually attractive he is to the female lion. Also, even though the female lionesses do the majority of the hunting, it is the male lion that protects his pride from intruders. _{Hence, my title}

A bit under the deadline to have this finished but I managed to finish it last night...around 11:20 at night.

I'm quite happy with this considering I've never drawn a lion before... I did attempt a singular sketch  but it was a bit crappy...>.< I wasn't very sure how this was going to turn out considering its been awhile since I've even used the Inktense pencils. For those of you that aren't familiar with them, they are basically water-soluble ink pencils. I think they are permanent once they've been wetted down.

The colors aren't exactly how I was hoping it would turn out though. And I think I should have blended the colors better on his muzzle. Oh and I tried to add the whiskers but they weren't coming forward. But I guess that's just my perfectionistic OCD rearing up I shall now call him-- Mufasa. But my dad really really loved it and wants to have it framed in his room.

Time: 8.5 hours altogether. Took about 3 for the lineart though

Materials: 11x14 matt board, pencil, kneaded eraser, Sharpie pen, and Inktense pencils
